Live @ Birdland from McCormick Brown Music on Vimeo.
Take the Great American Songbook, sprinkle in some Bobby Darin and Frank Sinatra, add a twist of modern sensibility, shake it all up and you'll get a taste of what Darin Brown is serving. Featuring all new works penned by Darin and lyricist Doug McCormick, they're keeping the lineage alive by creating what has been called, "Modern Standards." With Darin at the helm on piano and vocals, this music swings in a way designed to appeal to a whole new generation.
Darin finds himself on the precipice of fulfilling a lifelong dream in a genre of music that he’s been connected to his whole life. With an album in the final stages of release (due out in September), a Holiday song and video in the works and the perfect writing partner, Darin is finally ready to make the jump he was always destined to take.

Darin Brown Trio to perform debut show at Birdland, July 27
Featuring new music by Doug McCormick and Darin Brown
NEW YORK CITY, NY - On the evening of July 27th at renowned jazz club Birdland in midtown Manhattan, Darin Brown will perform a set of all new original “modern standards” composed with songwriter Doug McCormick. With Brown on piano and vocals, he’ll be joined by Conrad Korsch (Rod Stewart) on upright bass and Andrea Valentini (Blood, Sweat and Tears) on drums.
Brown and McCormick have created songs that stay true to the tradition of the Great American Songbook while adding a fresh modern twist. With a nod to the great crooners of the past like Bobby Darin and Frank Sinatra these newly penned songs keep the lineage alive while making it clear that these songs are of today.
Says McCormick, “Our goal is to offer some new additions to the Great American Songbook. They are songs with a story, a meaning and a rhythm that reprise a time when lyrics mattered.”
As co-writers, McCormick and Brown offer the yin and yang of great collaborators of the past. Doug leans lyrics, Darin leans music, with neither afraid to step into the other’s “territory.”
Darin Brown has toured with acts ranging from Willy DeVille to Enrique Iglesias and has performed with artists at some of the great jazz festivals of the world (San Javier, Marseille) and historic arenas like Madison Square Garden and Royal Albert Hall. Doug McCormick has had his compositions recorded by Gladys Knight, Dusty Springfield, Roberto Carlos and is a co-writer with Paul Anka.
Tickets are $30 and can be purchased online at www.birdlandjazz.com.
